Cristiano Ronaldo yet to seal exit from Man Utd ahead of 2022/23 season

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future remains uncertain for the coming season, despite meeting Erik Ten Hag to plan for 22/23. The player wants to leave Old Trafford, especially since Manchester United will be playing in the Europa League. 

The club have made it clear that he isn’t for sale. But his agent, Jorge Mendes, has been pushing for a move in the last few weeks. And he continues to work to find a solution for his client.

Ronaldo has told Ten Hag that he doesn’t want to continue at United any further. He is expected to work the same strategy last year as he did with Juventus. The transfer back to Old Trafford came very late in the transfer window. So, this year could see him do the same. 

Atletico Madrid were most strongly linked with Cristiano Ronaldo over the last few weeks. However, the fans have protested strongly against the transfer. They even held up a banner saying ‘CR7 not welcome’ during a friendly which sums up their opinions. 

Chelsea and Bayern Munich have also distanced themselves from the Portugal captain, even though they both need a striker. As a result, it could be late drama in the transfer market again for the 37-year-old as he aims to prepare ahead of the 2022 World Cup with an elite European outfit.
