Giovanni Lo Celso

Giovanni Lo Celso is expected to join Villarreal this summer, leaving Tottenham once again. However, the transfer is currently in a complicated situation that the two clubs are trying to sort out.

The Argentine spent the second half of the 21/22 season on loan under Unai Emery, and was quite impressive. He helped the Yellow Submarine reach the semi-finals of the Champions League after beating Juventus and Bayern Munich in the two knockout stage games before eventually bowing out.

The midfielder wants to leave Spurs this summer, and the club expect the same outcome. As a result, they have left him out of their pre-season tour of South Korea alongside Sergio Reguilón.

The Premier League club are holding out for a £17 million fee for Giovanni Lo Celso. And Villarreal will have to sell one of their key players to fund a transfer. Another loan deal looks unlikely at this point.

The seclusion of Reguilón was quite surprising considering he still has room to improve at 25, and has shown his quality before. However, Antonio Conte doesn’t see the Spaniard as a part of the squad for the coming season. He has told his agent to look for other clubs he can join this summer, and is looking to seal and exit before the end of the transfer window.
