BCCI: Mastercard replaces Paytm as the new title sponsor of the Indian cricket team

The new title Sponsor for domestic and international cricket in India will be Mastercard. In response to PayTM’s proposal, BCCI has chosen to grant Mastercard’s request to get the title rights.

Mastercard’s first series as the BCCI’s Title Sponsor will be in September versus World Champion Australia.

According to information, Australia will face India at Mohali (September 20), Nagpur (September 23), and Hyderabad (September 24). (September 25).

Three more Twenty20 matches against the Proteas will conclude India’s World Cup preparations at Trivandrum (September 28), Guwahati (October 1), and Indore (October 1). (October 3).

Three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against South Africa will come after this series. All of these series’ title rights will now be transferred by PayTM to Mastercard.

According to sources, BCCI has now agreed to Paytm’s request to reassign the rights to Mastercard. Re-assignment of the rights came with a price tag of Rs. 3.8Cr per match.

PayTM’s decision to end the sponsorship agreement with Indian cricket in the middle of it has been verified by BCCI. On July 5th, the digital payment provider notified the BCCI that they would no longer like to serve as the Indian cricket team’s title sponsor. The rights are being transferred to Mastercard at PayTM’s request.

A BCCI source said, “yes, they had sent in a request for the transfer of the rights. It is correct there is a provision for assignment of Rights to a third party. Contracts with the new sponsor will be completed in two weeks’ time. They will continue as partner till 2023.”
