ISL: SC East Bengal set to make a big signing; Stephen Constantine as head coach in 2022

East Bengal is prepared to hire Stephen Constantine as its head coach. According to a person familiar with the situation, he has agreed to a one-year contract with the club that includes an extension option. The team will shortly make the deal official.

In the USA, Stephen Constantine has participated in a lot of football games. He participated in sports for the New York Pancyprian-Freedoms and the Pennsylvania Stoners. At the age of 26, he was forced to retire due to a severe knee injury.

For the third level team in Cyprus, APEP Pitsilia, Constantine began his coaching career. He was named the Nepalese national team’s head coach in 1999. After that, in 2001, Constantine worked as the youth coach at AFC Bournemouth.

His time with AFC Bournemouth helped him become quite well known. He got the opportunity to work there under Sean O’Driscoll. He was chosen to serve as the Indian National Team’s head coach in 2002.

With the U-23 Indian squad, Constantine won the LG Cup by defeating teams from Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. He later on worked as the assistant coach at Millwall under Dennis Wise.

The 59-year-old took over as head coach of the Rwandan national team in 2014. When the rankings were released in December 2014 under his direction, Rwanda reached its highest-ever place of 68.

Stephen Constantine has formerly coached the Indian Men’s National team

Stephen Constantine’s appointment as the country of India’s head coach was made public on January 16, 2015. When Constantine lost to Guam in World Cup qualifying, there was a lot of backlash at first.

However, the coach assembled a youthful team that was led by Sunil Chettri. Arnab Mondal, Ashique Kuruniyan, Udanta Singh, and Sandesh Jhingan all excelled as football players under his direction.

He defeated Afghanistan in the championship match to win the 2016 SAFF Cup. The Englishman also assisted India in defeating Thailand 4-1 to win their first AFC Asian Cup game since 1964. He elevated the Indian national team from 172 to 97 in the FIFA rankings.
