Dani Alves joins Pumas on a 1+1 year deal

Dani Alves has announced Mexican club Pumas as his next destination, after leaving Barcelona for a second time. The veteran’s contract with the Blaugranes was terminated only six months after he joined to make room for new signings.

The player has expressed his dissatisfaction with the way his exit was handled. He has insisted that he is not too old, and can still compete at the top level. Currently 39, the Brazilian is ambitious about making it to the national team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Dani Alves joins Pumas for 22/23 season

The player has dropped several hints on Instagram, all but confirming Pumas as his next club. He will be signing a one-year deal with the option for another, which would take him into his 40s.

Dani Alves is the most decorated player of all-time in football, and wants to add the World Cup to his unprecedented collection of trophies. And this is one of the key reasons why he keeps on going despite being well beyond the average age of retirement.

The right-back is set to arrive in the Mexican capital on Saturday to undergo medicals ahead of the move. Once he has completed his assessment and the formalities, he will be officially presented as a new player for the Liga MX side.

And with regular playing time on the pitch, he could make it to Qatar in winter as well.
