England vs India 1st ODI: Jasprit Bumrah breaks records as England registers the lowest score against India

The hosts were bowled out for just 110, their lowest total in ODIs against India, with Jasprit Bumrah’s career-best performance of 6/19 in 7.2 overs, which also featured three maidens.

The first of the three games was won at the Kennington Oval in London by captain Rohit Sharma and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan, who had an undefeated century opening stand. India won the match by ten wickets as the former finished unbeaten on 76 off 58 with seven fours and five maximums. Dhawan scored 31 off 54.

In an overall eventful fixture, there were several statistics in highlight. Some of them are listed below.

Against India, England scored 110, their lowest ODI total. The previous low for them was 125, which occurred in Jaipur in 2006. On the other hand, As opening partners, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan surpassed the benchmark of 5000 runs, scoring 5108.

The Indian pacers have taken all ten wickets in a game for the sixth time in ODI history. Additionally, it is the first time they have done so after bowling first. India defeated England for the sixth time overall and for the first time in One-Day Internationals with a margin of 10 wickets.

In ODI cricket, Rohit surpassed the landmark of 250 sixes. He followed Shahid Afridi, Chris Gayle, and Sanath Jayasuriya as the fourth hitter to accomplish the feat.

In ODIs, Jasprit Bumrah recorded his best bowling statistics of 6/19. In 2017, he had a previous best of 5/27 against Sri Lanka. This was his third-best figure for India in the 40 over format

For the first time ever, England suffered a ten-wicket defeat at home. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami attained the landmark of 150 ODI wickets.

Rohit now holds the record for visiting players in England for runs scored (1,411). He outran Kane Williamson’s previous record of 1393 runs.
