Here’s why Gareth Bale joined Los Angeles FC after leaving Real Madrid

Gareth Bale became a free agent as his contract with Real Madrid ended this summer. After months of speculation regarding his next club, the Welshman has joined MLS side Los Angeles FC. There were also rumours of him retiring from football.

Now, Gareth Bale has revealed the reason behind joining Los Angeles FC this summer.

Here’s why Gareth Bale joined Los Angeles FC after leaving Real Madrid

Bale told ESPN’s Taylor Twellman and Jon Champion during half-time of LAFC’s 3-2 win over rivals LA Galaxy on Friday: “The club’s really on the rise.”

“It’s very new, but it’s something that’s really glamorous and it’s a very attractive club. Just speaking with them, it felt really like the right thing to do. It felt like home straight away.”

Bale was a great player when he was fully fit. He formed the famous BBC trio at Real Madrid. He won five Champions Leagues, four Club World Cups, three LaLiga Santanders, and three Copa del Reys with the Spanish giants over the course of nine years.

However, Gareth Bale had a very difficult end to his chapter at Real Madrid, where he scored 106 goals and provided 67 assists in 258 games. He also played a key role in Wales reaching the FIFA World Cup 2022. His vast experience can help the youngsters at LAFC.

Bale further added: “I can come in and offer obviously what I can do in football, but I can help with the youngsters. Because obviously, it’s a very young team here, giving them advice, seeing what I do in terms of professional standard and trying to help them.”

“I think the league is a growing league and it was an exciting opportunity that I felt was right for me and my family.”

“I want to come here, I want to play games, I want to make my stamp and I want to do as best as I can to help LAFC try to win a trophy.”
