Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro: Key details you need to know about the devices and launch dates

Nubia will be launching the Red Magic Series on the 11th of July. Similar to last year, the lineup will arrive with two different models namely the Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro. These devices will be upgraded over the 7 and 7 Pro. Here is everything that we know about this phones to date.

Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro launch dates:

The launch date of the lineup has already been confirmed as 11th July by the brand and it will be launched in China first. The first sale is scheduled to take place a week after the official launch. The brand will also be releasing a special Transformers Edition of the Pro smartphone that will be launching alongside the standard editions.

In terms of design, the Red Magic 7 features the same design as the Pro version and it hints that on the rear, it will arrive with a design similar to the previous generation models. On the front, we notice some interesting changes.

Nubia Red Magic 7S Series

Both smartphones feature an under-display camera and on the right, it will have pressure-sensitive triggers for gaming. As opposed to previous models, the 7S and 7S Pro have the standard volume rocker and power button on the right spine while on the left it has a red switch for enabling active liquid cooling. The rear has a semi-transparent back which kind of gives you an idea of how the phone is constructed.

In terms of optics, the camera module is a rear one with three sensors. They have a 64MP+8MP+2MP setup along with an LED flash. On the front, they have a 16MP under-display sensor which may not be the best choice.

The SIM tray is located at the bottom along with a bottom-facing speaker and a USB Type-C connector. The 3.5m audio jack will be placed at the top-right corner of the phone. The Nubia Red Magic 7S Pro’s special transformer edition model will come with an iconic resemblance to Bumblebee. It ships in a hexagonal box along with an external cooler, a protective cover, and other accessories.

In terms of hardware, the Red Magic 7S and 7S Pro arrive with the latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1 chip. It will arrive in three different RAM iterations namely, 8GB,12GB, and 16GB. It will come with up to 1TB of storage while the 7S will be restricted to just 512GB.

On the display front, the 7S and 7S Pro will have a 6.8″ OLED panel along with a FullHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The refresh rate on the Pro version extends up to 165Hz along with a 720Hz touch sampling rate. The Red Magic 7S supports a refresh rate of 120Hz. It offers a peak brightness of up to 700 nits and the color accuracy will be better in comparison to its predecessors. For enhanced protection, we will get a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 on top.

Both devices will carry features that will entice gamers more. Pressure-sensitive physical triggers, Game space, and intelligent heat dissipation and cooling system. They come with ICE 10.0 liquid-cooling technology along with a unique cooling fan for improved thermals.

The phone runs on Red Magic 5.0 based on Android 12. It arrives with a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth v5.0 support, NFC, and 5G support.

The phones ship with a 4,500mAh and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging and 165W fast charging. The phones can go from 0-100 in under 20 minutes. The only downside is that they will not support wireless charging or reverse charging.
