Tottenham Hotspur have reached total agreement with Barcelona for the signing of Clement Lenglet on a loan deal. The transfer has been given the here we go signal by Fabrizio Romano, which means it is only a matter of time before the deal is made official by both clubs.

The player will be signed on a straight loan until June 2023, and there is no buy option included in the player’s contract as of yet. However, this could change if he performs well under Antonio Conte and the London club want to retain his services beyond the season.

After Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma, Clement Lenglet will become the fifth new signing for Spurs this summer. Antonio Conte is being backed strongly by the board in the transfer market, which is a significant change in their stance from previous years.

The player has been deemed practically invisible to Xavi, who prefers Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo, Gerard Pique and now, Andreas Christensen over the Frenchman. He has struggled with injuries and poor form over the last few years, which have diminished his reputation in the eyes of the fans.

And now, he is set to become a member of the back three under Conte, and could be a great rotational option for the Italian as he hopes to end Spurs’ trophy drought this year.
