Alejandro Pozuelo is set to join Inter Miami from Toronto FC, ending a three-year spell with the club. The trade will see Toronto earn a fee worth $150,000, and will also open up a spot for a designated player.
The 30-year-old plays primarily as an attacking midfielder, and also operates on the wings if needed. Pozuelo is currently the most expensive player in the squad, but he will be replaced by Federico Bernardeschi in all likelihood. Inter Miami were on the lookout for a playmaker, and will get exactly what they were looking for in the Spaniard.
Toronto FC to sign Federico Bernardeschi as a free agent
Bernardeschi ended his spell at Juventus recently, leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract. He will now be able to join any club of his choosing as a free agent, and Toronto FC seems like the most probable destination for the winger.
The 28-year-old is in talks with the club over a potential move, and although it hasn’t been finalised yet, he is the number one transfer target for them this summer. The Canadian side has also agreed a move for Lorenzo Insigne on a free transfer, and Domenico Criscito, making it three possible Italians in one summer.
Upon his arrival, Insigne will be the most valuable player in the MLS, while Bernardeschi will also be in the top ten, with a market value of $11 million.
