Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen on a free transfer. The players had agreed personal terms with the Spanish side a long time ago, and the move has now been made official by them.

Owing to the financial constraints placed on the club, they had to renegotiate the contracts of both the players. And now that it has been agreed once again, the deals have been announced after weeks of anticipation.

Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen join Barcelona as free agents

Kessie let his contract with AC Milan expire so that he could move as a free agent. The Rossoneri had offered him a new contract, and tried to negotiate the terms as well. But, his financial demands were more than what they could offer. And as a result, he decided to join Barcelona.

The same situation led to the exit of Andreas Christensen from Chelsea. The Denmark international had reached an agreement for a renewal, but then changed agencies, and was unable to find an agreement thereafter. He has now been announced as a new Barcelona player, and will be adding to the defense.

Both players have signed four-year deals with the Blaugrana until June 2026. They will be officially presented at Camp Nou in the coming days, and their squad numbers will also be revealed. Barcelona are now expected to prioritise the signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern, with Raphinha from Leeds United the second in the list.
