Cristiano Ronaldo asks for a transfer from Manchester United if a suitable offer comes in

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly asked to be sold by Manchester United if a suitable offer comes for him this summer. The news comes after the club had their worst ever season in the Premier League, finishing with their lowest points total in the modern era.

More importantly, they failed to qualify for the Champions League, and are heading into a rebuilding phase with Erik Ten Hag that could take three to four years. Ronaldo wants to win trophies and battle for top championships at this stage of his career, and believes that it isn’t possible with the current team, especially considering their lack of transfer activity this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo hands in transfer request

The Champions League top scorer will not be featuring in the tournament next season if he continues at Manchester United. He was one of their only players that delivered on the pitch, alongside David De Gea. And with 18 Premier League goals, he finished as their top scorer, only five behind the Golden Boot winners.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and Jorge Mendes recently had a conversation about the Portugal captain making the switch. However, United quickly denied any rumours of the player leaving this summer. But now, it seems like a transfer could be a realistic option for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Napoli and Bayern Munich have emerged as suitable options, with Chelsea also in the background. PSG are not looking to sign the 37-year-old as things stand, even though it would create everyone’s dream line-up featuring the two greatest players in football.
