Tesla has laid off more than 200 Employees in its Autopilot Division

The Tesla Autopilot team is claimed to have lost 200 or more employees, and the business also closed its California branch. According to Bloomberg, the company told staff members about the change on Tuesday. Analysis and classification of customer-provided Autopilot data was the responsibility of annotation specialists, many of whom were impacted.

Along with the layoffs, Tesla shut down its San Mateo location; according to Bloomberg, the remaining 350 team employees were transferred to a nearby office.

Elon Musk has some big plans for Tesla ahead of the coming Recession

The cuts almost certainly form a part of Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s bigger initiative to cut costs at the company ahead of a future recession. At the beginning of June, Musk sent an email to the entire company warning that layoffs were likely to happen and that he had a “really horrible feeling” about the economy. Later, he revealed to Bloomberg his plans to reduce Tesla’s paid staff by around 10% during the ensuing three months.

The discovery was brought about by Musk’s threat that remote workers must return to the office or risk losing their jobs. The Information claims that Tesla’s attempt to get back to work failed miserably when numerous employees showed up at the company’s Fremont location only to find that there weren’t enough parking spaces or desks.
