Cyberpunk 2077: AMD FSR 2.0 coming to the Game with New Mod

The most sophisticated upscaling algorithm from AMD may now be used with Cyberpunk 2077 thanks to a method developed by modders. A contributor to NexusMods, PotatoOfDoom1337, has made available some files and instructions for integrating AMD FSR 2.0 in the game. Please keep in mind that the mod is meant to serve as a “proof of concept,” therefore testers should be prepared for problems. Despite this, PotatoOfDoom1337 offered some amusing screenshots and details on performance enhancements.

One of the most important pieces of evidence that this mod is real is the pair of game screenshots. The first screenshot of the game has FSR 2.0 Balanced and all other parameters are set to Max, whereas the second screenshot has FSR 1.0 Balanced and all other settings are Max. AMD FSR 2.0 is already more brilliant and detailed; we didn’t need to zoom in or massage our chins to notice the change.

PotatoOfDoom1337 claims to have played the game at 4K with an FPS bump to a decent 45 FPS with FSR 2.0 on his obsolete GeForce GTX 1080. MxBenchmarkPC on YouTube has already produced a quality comparison video.

Visit the project website, download the required files, and then follow the installation instructions if PotatoOfDoom1337’s mod appeals to you. Additionally, this hack turns off the upscaler if you frequently play this game with Nvidia DLSS enabled. After installing this patch, you can alter FSR 2.0 settings in the game’s user interface using the DLSS quality menu.

As Cyberpunk 2077 now only supports the less capable and unrefined FSR 1.0, fans of the game are eager to see FSR 2.0 upgrade.

It will take developers three to four weeks to set up and begin using this more upscale, according to AMD, which has emphasized that FSR 2.0 isn’t a straightforward drop-in replacement for the prior version.

After considering the nature of this mod/hack, one can’t help but wonder if a comparable level of file-swapping and registry manipulation may make FSR 2.0 work in other DLSS-supported games.

The FSR 2.0 source code, which AMD released last week, has some digs at Intel XeSS and Nvidia DLSS. Soon after, GPUOpen announced that Microsoft’s Xbox game consoles would soon support FSR 2.0. AMD FSR 2.0’s openness may provide it with a competitive edge over other solutions.
