As Madhya Pradesh joins the likes of Saurashtra, Vidarbha, and Gujarat as first-time champions of the Ranji Trophy in the past five seasons, that total now stands at 4. The Madhya Pradesh players celebrated in front of a sizable audience in Bengaluru, with their coach Chandrakant Pandit in charge of the team huddle. In the 1988–89 season, Pandit is notable for leading Madhya Pradesh to their first final, where they fell to Karnataka in Bengaluru. He oversaw MP’s victory in the championship 23 years later.
