England achieved a remarkable accomplishment when Jos Buttler and his teammates broke their own record for the greatest ODI total in cricket history. England, on the other hand, mounted a lethal onslaught on the Netherlands, scoring 498 runs in 50 overs. England came within a whisker of reaching a major milestone when they fell short of 500 runs. They would have been the first side in ODI history to hit 500 runs.

With their individual centuries, Salt and Malan established the tempo of the game. Jos Buttler, the skipper, led the charge after they were dismissed. Liam Livingstone, who bowled the second-fastest fifty in ODI history, subsequently added to his devastation. In only 17 deliveries, he scored a stunning fifty. The scoreboard displayed 498/4 at the end of the innings, which meant England had broken their own record and had now set the bar for the greatest ever runs score in ODI cricket.
