Intel’s Arc A380 GPUs appear to be Slower than Originally expected

Even though the Intel Arc series performs well in simulated testing, there remains a gaming issue. The Arc A380 desktop graphics card from Intel promises to be up to 25% faster than the Radeon RX 6400, although this performance claim is predicated on the price of both cards, a seemingly small issue that can be neglected.

The Arc A380 desktop GPU includes only one performance slide, which displays average FPS at 1080p resolution with medium settings but no information on the RX 6400

There are no clearly verified facts in the footnotes or on the Intel Performance Index website. 3DCenter went to the trouble of revalidating Intel statements as well as all available data, arriving at the following result.

According to the site, the actual performance difference depends on the pricing of both cards and is around 21%. Because the actual performance (not pricing) is only 4% better, it’s equivalent in terms of margin of error to the Radeon RX 6400.

As a result, 3DCenter will have to revalidate the entire series’ performance projection, which is now slightly lower than expected. Although the flagship Arc A780/770 is unlikely to equal the RTX 3070’s performance, it should be slightly poorer than the RTX 3060 Ti. Upper mid-range Intel Arc desktop machines should compete with RTX 3060 and 3050 models, but none of the Arc A3-series products will be able to exceed the Radeon RX 6500 XT in gaming.

Further driver updates may improve Arc gaming performance, but with the A380’s limited release (one country, exclusively in prebuilt PCs, and sold by one merchant), gamers may likely look for RTX 30/ RX 6000 discounts. These series are now being sold for cheaper than their original MSRP. Not to mention that next-generation GPUs aren’t expected to be available for another three months.
