Tottenham have agreed the signing of Yves Bissouma from Brighton, in a deal worth €29 million plus add-ons. The paperwork for the transfer has been signed by both the clubs, and it is only a matter of time before the move is made official.
The midfielder has agreed a five-year contract with the London side, and has passed his medical assessment. He is the third signing for Antonio Conte this summer, after Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan on a free transfer and Fraser Forster.
Yves Bissouma to officially join Tottenham in the coming days
The player was one of the targets for top Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea this summer. But, Spurs have gone in first and completed all the negotiations with Brighton to finalise the transfer.
Yves Bissouma is a Mali international, and has made 18 appearances for the national team. He started off his career with Real Bamako in Mali before moving to Lille. In 2018, he made the move to Brighton for a transfer fee worth €16.8 million. And now, he is on his way to playing Champions League football next season with Spurs.
The 25-year-old is a defensive midfielder and has attracted praise from Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard as well. His ability to create balance in the middle of the park is one of the main aspects of his game, and will provide Conte with another great option in the middle of the park.
