“Nadal has previously admitted to taking anti-inflammatories on a daily basis to be able to train”– as quoted by Garcia.

  • Nadal suffers from a rare degenerative condition. The condition is called Mueller-Weiss which affects bones in the feet.
  • Nadal was diagnosed with the condition in 2005 at the age of 19.
  • Mueller-Weiss syndrome can affect one foot or both. Nadal has it on his left foot.

  • The injections allow Nadal to compete but are ruining his foot by the day.

Nadal is ready to chase a record-extending 22nd Grand Slam title on Sunday.

“Without a doubt, I’d prefer to lose the final. My opinion does not change. A new foot would allow me to be happier in my daily life. Winning is very nice and gives you an adrenaline rush, but it’s temporary and then you have to go on living. I have a life ahead of me and in the future, I would love to play sports with my friends. My happiness goes ahead of any title,” Nadal said.
