Tata Motors now forms a new subsidiary for EV passenger mobility

Tata as a brand has been growing exponentially each year and one of the brightest companies owned by TATA Group has to be Tata Motors. Under it, reputed brands like Jaguar and Land Rover are thriving while the best part is now with greater R&D, Tata Motors is able to make revolutionary designs like Sierra EV, Avinya to name a few.

They Indian car giant has recently announced of a new wholly-owned subsidiary called the TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd (TSCMSL). Well, the name might be a little confusing but Tata Motors has a clear idea of the electric future that lies ahead because the Indian government has a job to reduce carbon footprint by 2030.

Tata Motors registers new subsidary TSCMSL but why?

So, turning a major chunk of passenger vehicles like bus, taxis to eletric is a major goal for the government, while already many states are switching to electrice buses, there’s more room to embrace zero-emission vehicles. Heavy polluted cities like Delhi, Mumbai or Kolkata have already taken a lot of steps to reduce pollution but pushing to electric will require new passenger vehicles on road by car makers.

This is what Tata Motors is targeting, diversifying its brand and with TSCMSL, they will look forward to make cars for urban mass mobility business with a “special focus” on the electric vehicles (EV) segment as Moneycontrol states.

TSCMSL will “manufacture, design, develop, automotive vehicles including but not limited to all kinds of vehicles including electric, diesel, CNG, hybrid, new energy vehicles (including hydrogen fuel cell) or vehicles propelled or assisted by means of other sources or energy and/or fuel,” Tata Motors said in a regulatory filing.

So, Tata Motors won’t stop to eletric but also explore other options as like the new Hydrogen fuel cars which are touted to come to Indian roads soon. This new subsidiary by TATA will be incorporated with an initial capital of Rs 5 crore and its aim to bring new commercial vehicles ” with a focus to EV segment” makes lot more sense in 2022.

TSCMSL will be Tata’s next big venture into the commercial EV segment while its electric buses reamin quite popular in India and if you don’t know Tata Motors is the number one eletric car manufacturer in the Indian EV market.
