4-time World Cup winning USWNT achieves equal pay after deal with US Soccer board

In a historic achievement for women’s football, the US Soccer board will be giving out equal pay to both the USMNT and USWNT. The long battle between the women’s team and the board was settled, following a high profile lawsuit.

The deal struck will see the women no longer receive salaries. Instead, they will be paid out of bonuses like the men’s team. The bonuses from the World Cup will be split evenly, and they will also receive bonuses for selling out stadiums, roster selection and team performances.

Equal pay finally achieved between USMNT and USWNT

“This is a truly historic moment,” said US Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone.

“These agreements have changed the game forever here in the United States and have the potential to change the game around the world.

“US Soccer and the USWNT and USMNT players have reset their relationship with these new agreements and are leading us forward to an incredibly exciting new phase of mutual growth and collaboration as we continue our mission to become the preeminent sport in the United States.”

The main reason behind the soccer board denying women equal pay is because the men generate more revenue. But that will no longer affect the way that the four-time World Cup winners receive their salaries. The payment between broadcast deals, as well as prize money pools for non-World Cup tournaments will also be split evenly.
