East Bengal are already going through a lot of problems off the field regarding their investors. East Bengal were backed by Shree Cements but their visions don’t seem to be aligned as for the last two years there have been doubts about their ISL participation till the last moment.

After entering the ISL in the last stage, the team has finished at the bottom place due to a lack of planning and having not enough time to form a good team. This has been the case for the last two years for the famous Red and Gold brigade.

FIFA orders East Bengal to pay Rs 1.65 crores to Iranian player Omid Singh

However, a new controversy has now hit East Bengal. According to a report by Sangbad Pratidin, FIFA has given an order to East Bengal to pay Rs 1.65 crores to Iranian player Omid Singh for not paying the salary earlier.

Omid Singh was signed by East Bengal officials before Shree Cements came on board as the club’s investors. But after Shree Cements came in as an investor, they did not agree to sign him.

It is also reported that there was no signature on the part of East Bengal in the agreement. Due to this, the club are not willing to accept the footballer’s contract.

Therefore, Omid Singh was forced to approach FIFA for arrears of salary and FIFA has now directed East Bengal to clear his dues. Previously, AIFF had also imposed a transfer ban on East Bengal for non-payment of salary of around Rs 1.4 crores.

However, Shree Cements’ officials have made it clear that they would not carry the arrears of any footballer from the time of Quess, East Bengal’s previous investors before Shree Cement.

So it remains to be seen who will have to bear the salary of Omid Singh, East Bengal, or Shree Cements.
