Barcelona are headed for a difficult summer transfer window at the end of the 21/22 season. Their financial difficulties have been well documented recently, and La Liga has revealed their total wage bill which is worth €144 million.

The Spanish giants have missed out on the signing of Erling Haaland, with Manchester City winning the race to sign him. However, it was a huge financial operation – one that City are well equipped to pull off.

The club have been hit with a strict spending limit, and they will have to sell players before they can invest in bringing new ones in. However, some free transfers have been agreed already due to the absence of transfer fees involved.

Franck Kessie from AC Milan, Andreas Christensen from Chelsea, as well as Cesar Azpilicueta could all be announced as new Barcelona players in the near future.

The La Liga side is also working to secure a contract renewal for talented youngster Gavi in the coming days. They are also trying their best to get Ousmane Dembele to extend his stay at the club despite not having the best financial offer for him.

With the difficulties on and off the pitch, Barcelona’s pursuit of Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski could also fall short. This is because Bayern can offer the striker much more money than Barca right now, although a renewal has not been agreed upon yet.
