Pedro Porro joins Sporting Lisbon on permanent deal for €45 million

Sporting Lisbon have triggered the release clause for right-back Pedro Porro to make his loan deal permanent. The player joined the Portuguese side in 2020 from Manchester City and is finally set to be a permanent member of the squad.

The transfer fee involved in the transfer is around €45 million, and City will be receiving an €8.5 million fee for the loan spell. Porro will be signing a three-year contract with Sporting until 2025, and the official announcement will be made by the club by the end of May.

Pedro Porro finally leaves Manchester City to join Sporting Lisbon

The right-back joined Manchester City in 2019, but didn’t make a single appearance for them. He went on loan to Real Valladolid for one season and then moved to the Portuguese league where he is now.

The player has been quite impressive for his current club. He has helped them win not only the league title but also the domestic cup, helping them complete the double. The 22-year-old can be recalled by Manchester City at any time since they have a €20 million buyback option included in his contract.

This season, Pedro Porro made 33 appearances for the club and scored four goals while providing seven assists across all competitions. He made his debut for the Spanish national team in the World Cup qualifier against Georgia last year, and is yet to follow up. But with impressive performances throughout the season, he could become a top player in the years to come.
