East Bengal pursuing investment from Manchester United ahead of 2022/23 season

East Bengal are looking towards an investment partnership with Premier League giants Manchester United, according to several news outlets. Securing an investment from them is a ‘key objective’ for the club ahead of the new season.

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has reportedly handed in an informal proposal to the club, with his wide range of contacts. The former India captain is known to be an admirer of the Premier League club, and is trying to help the Red and Gold brigade secure their objective to become a force in Indian football again.

East Bengal officials refuse to comment on Manchester United investment

Debabrata Sarkar has denied any reports of Manchester United being pursued for an investment as of right now. But, rumours linking the two clubs have been circling for the last few years and a partnership could finally be forged if the Premier League club can be persuaded.

Several European clubs have had tie-ups with ISL franchises, such as Manchester City and the City group incorporating Mumbai City FC. Watford have had a tie up with Odisha FC, while Scottish champions Rangers have endorsed Bengaluru FC. Lastly, Hyderabad FC have been recognised by German giants Borussia Dortmund.

In their second season in the ISL, East Bengal were able to win only one game while finishing at the bottom of the table. This season, they will be optimistic about making things better and have already started signing their transfer targets ahead of the new season.
