Frenkie De Jong’s €70m summer transfer ruled out by Jordi Cruyff

Frenkie De Jong has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer, with the Red Devils looking to replace Paul Pogba once the Frenchman leaves at the end of the season

Erik Ten Hag has been named the new manager of the Premier League club, and will be taking over in the summer. The manager and Frenkie De Jong share a good rapport from their time together in Ajax. And, with him coming to Old Trafford, a reunion could be in the works.

Jordi Cruyff rules out Frenkie De Jong transfer

But, Barcelona consultant Jordi Cruyff has mentioned that the talented midfielder will not be sold. Several top clubs from all across the continent have come calling for him, according to the player’s father. But, the bad weather in Manchester alongside the project at Barcelona prevents a transfer for the Dutchman.

The player has several years remaining on his current deal with Barcelona. But, his recent performances have led to some backlash from the fans. In their most recent game against Rayo Vallecano, he was subbed off at the hour mark, and was visibly frustrated with the decision.

A fee around €70 million has been quoted for the Netherlands international. Barcelona currently need the money, and would be able to reinvest it into the squad as well. But, their faith in Frenkie De Jong could cause them to hold on to him even if they get a decent offer.
