Samsung Exynos 1280 SoC officially announced

Samsung has finally announced the Exynos 1280 chip that is featured in some of its recent Galaxy A-Series mid-rangers such as the Galaxy A33, Galaxy A53, and Galaxy M33.

The chip is built on the Samsung 5nm EUV process and features an eight-core CPU made of two Cortex-A78 performance cores along with six Cortex A-55 power-efficient cores. The GPU side is handled by the ARM Mali-G68 and you get sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G connectivity.

The new chipset is optimized with Fused Multiply-Add or FMA bringing better power consumption and battery life. The onboard neural processing unit or NPU brings AI functions such as scene segmentation, real-time motion analysis, and multi-object surveillance.

The Exynos 1280 chip can handle FHD+ displays with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, its image signal processor supports a max resolution of up to 108MP and up to three 16MP modules.

Samsung has integrated the multi-frame image processing for clearer images with less noise, electronic image stabilization as well as 4K video recording and playback at 30fps.

It supports WiFi 802.11ac MIMO with dual-band (2.4/5G), Bluetooth 5.2, and quad-constellation multi-signal for L1 and L5 GNSS positioning.
