Top 5 teams with the highest appearances in FA Cup finals

The FA Cup is the oldest Cup competition in the world, having been played for over 150 years. The final of the 21/22 edition of the tournament is only a few weeks away, and will see Liverpool face Chelsea in a repeat of the Carabao Cup final from earlier in the season.

In this article, we will be taking a look at the top 5 teams with the most final appearances in the FA Cup.

Top 5 teams with the most FA Cup final appearances

5. Newcastle United & Everton – 13

Everton and Newcastle are tied at 13 final appearances each. While Everton have been struggling to stay up in the Premier League, Newcastle are building a new identity. And it wouldn’t be too surprising to see them in a final soon.

4. Liverpool – 15

The Merseyside club made their last FA Cup final appearance in 2012, incidentally against Chelsea. Ten years later, they are at the same spot, and are looking to right the wrongs from all those years ago.

3. Chelsea – 16

Chelsea have made it to the FA Cup final for the last three consecutive seasons. They lost their first to Arsenal, followed by Leicester City last year. And now, they have a huge task against Liverpool to break the curse at Wembley.

2. Manchester United – 20

While they haven’t made it to the finals since 2018, Manchester United have 20 appearances in an FA Cup final. The Red Devils have won the trophy 12 times, the second-highest tally in the history of the competition.
