Top 10 oldest goalscorers in La Liga of all-time

Age is often just a number in football. And the La Liga has seen players of all ages come and succeed in the division. After covering the top 10 oldest goalscorers in the Bundesliga, we will now be looking at the top 10 oldest goalscorers in the top flight of Spain. 

Top 10 oldest goalscorers in La Liga history 

10. Aritz Aduriz (38 years, six months and five days) 

Aduriz scored 172 goals for Athletic Bilbao, spending most of his career there. His final goal came against Barcelona in Bilbao’s 1-0 win against them. 

9. Larbi Benbarek (38 years, six months and 19 days) 

The original player nicknamed the “Black Pearl.” Benbarek is considered to be the first successful player of colour in Europe. His last goal came for Atletico Madrid.

8. Ferenc Puskas (38 years, seven months and 19 days) 

The Real Madrid icon scored his last goal for the club in a 2-1 defeat against Sevilla. He is revered as one of the best strikers to be produced from his country. 

7. Dani Alves (38 years and nine months) 

Alves scored against Atletico Madrid after returning to Barcelona at the age of 38, and proved that he still has what it takes to deliver at the highest level. 

6. Jose Araquistain (38 years, 11 months and 12 days) 

Araquistain is the only goalkeeper to feature in this list. His final goal came for his boyhood club, Real Sociedad, in a dramatic 2-1 win against Sporting Gijon.

5. Joaquin (39 years, seven months and 15 days) 

The current captain of Real Betis – Joaquin scored his last goal in 2021 to make it 2-2 against Deportivo Alaves in a match that Real Betis eventually won 3-2.

4. Alfredo Di Stefano (39 years, seven months and 16 days) 

Alfredo di Stefano is a Real Madrid legend of the highest calibre. But, his final goal in La Liga came for Espanyol in a 1-1 draw against Real Mallorca. 

3. Cesar Rodriguez (39 years, nine months and four days) 

Cesar Rodriguez was Barcelona’s top goalscorer before Messi. He begged his final goal for Elche against Atletico Madrid in a losing 4-3 effort. 

2. Jorge Molina (39 years and eleven months) 

Molina scored as recently as 3rd April 2022, helping equalise for Granada against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga. Given that he is still active, he could climb higher on this list too. 

1. Donato (40 years, four months and 17 days) 

The only player over the age of 40 to score in La Liga, Donato scored for Deportivo La Coruna in a 1-2 defeat against Valencia. He was a part of the Deportivo team that were quite dominant in the 2000s, who also won a La Liga title.
