Cristiano Ronaldo is no doubt one of the greatest footballers to ever lace up a pair of boots. But, his career has not lived up to the heights he achieved at Real Madrid since he made his final appearance in Kyiv.

The Portugal captain was signed by the Italian giants to help them win the Champions League. But, Ronaldo failed to deliver the European Cup to the Bianconeri despite him being their most expensive signing of all-time. His failing to show up in key moments also earned him a lot of criticism while he was with the Turin club.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s downward curve since Real Madrid

One of the main reasons why Real Madrid were as successful as they were is due to the names on the team sheet. Neither Juventus, and certainly not Manchester United, can compare to the kind of chances that Luka Modric and Toni Kroos can create.

The presence of a prolific forward like Karim Benzema, and Gareth Bale on the other wing, only made it easier for Cristiano to be at the best of his game.

Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo was seen smashing an Everon fan’s phone on his way to the dressing room. This communicates clearly that the forward is stressed and unhappy with the way things are at Manchester United. While they have one of the greatest forwards in world football, the rest of their team is a disaster. And it shows in the results, as well as the minutes on the pitch.

Ronaldo’s goals have also dried up, scoring only four since January. Three of those came in the hat-trick against Tottenham at Old Trafford.

So, while Ronaldo’s decision to leave Real Madrid at the top of the world was a bold one – the returns on the back of it have been underwhelming to say the least.
