Arsenal will part ways with 2 fringe players at the end of the season

Arsenal are gearing up for more departures in the summer, following a winter transfer window where they saw fringe players leave in numbers. Among the players in question are Lucas Torreira and Mohamed Elneny.

Torreira is currently on loan at Serie A club Fiorentina. There is a buy option in his contract worth €15 million, which the Italian club might activate in the summer. Should they choose to do so, Arsenal are prepared to deal with the loss of the Uruguayan on a permanent basis.

Arsenal looking to release more players

Mohamed Elneny has been on Arsenal’s books since 2016, after making the switch from FC Basel. However, he has found opportunities in the first team very limited. The Egyptian was sent out on loan for the 19/20 season before he was a part of the squad at the Emirates once more.

Elneny’s contract expires at the end of the ongoing season, and according to Fabrizio Romano, the club has no intention of offering him a new contract. As a result, the 29-year-old will be leaving the club as a free agent when his contract runs out with the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s side have several players who can play in a similar role to Elneny and Lucas Torreira. Albert Sambi-Lokonga and Granit Xhaka are two of the key players in the squad who could replace the two outgoing talents, while Thomas Partey, Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard can add a different dimension to the play as well.
