The Indian Super League came into existence in 2014 as the top tier league of Indian football, taking the mantle from I-League. The journey of ISL over these 8 years has been huge. The league started with just 8 teams and currently comprises 12 teams with further talks of more teams coming into the league.

The ISL has managed to bring more attention to Indian football on the world football map. Players from top footballing nations like Spain and France play for the ISL teams which definitely shows how much the league have evolved over the years.
