Deloitte Money League: Top 10 football clubs with the highest revenue for the 2020-21 season

The Deloitte Money League evaluates clubs based on the revenue they generate through their football-related activities. The list of the richest clubs for the 2020-21 season has been released. Deloitte has also put out a warning which states that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a drastic impact on the finances of clubs and, in turn, the list.

So, let us take a look at the clubs with the most revenue generated in the 2020-21 season.

Top 10 football clubs with the highest revenue for the 2020-21 season

10. Tottenham Hotspur

Despite not being able to win trophies, the Lilywhites have been able to generate a revenue worth €406.2 million. This is down 10% from their previous season.

9. Juventus

The Bianconeri might not be the undisputed kings of Italy anymore, but they are the only Serie A club on the list. Their total income is at around €433.5 million, which is up 9% from the last time.

8. Chelsea

The Champions of Europe have managed to increase their annual revenue by 5% to €493.1 million. They have gone on to enjoy a remarkable set of performances under Thomas Tuchel, winning the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup as well.

7. Liverpool

Liverpool are among the clubs most efficient with their spending. They have dropped two spots, and are now seventh. They maintain a 64% wage to revenue ratio, with an income of €550.4 million this time.

6. Paris Saint-Germain

The French giants are the only club from Ligue 1 on this list. They have an annual income worth €556.2 million, representing a 3% rise from last year. While their wage to revenue ratio isn’t available, it is expected to be very high with the kind of salaries that their players command.

5. Manchester United

Manchester United were once the biggest club in England on and off the pitch. But, that is no longer the case, with their trophy drought entering the fifth year. Regardless, they continue to be financial giants. Their revenue has fallen by 4% to €558 million.

4. Barcelona

The Blaugrana have had to endure some serious financial difficulties this year, with their income falling 18% from €715.1 million to €582.1 million. Their wage to revenue ratio is also quite high at 84%.

3. Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich’s annual revenue has dropped by 4%, from €634.1 million to €611.4 million. However, they continue to be counted among the biggest clubs in the world and are on course to win the Bundesliga for a tenth straight season.

2. Real Madrid

Los Merengues have been quite reserved about their spending, with a wage to revenue ratio at 63%. Their total annual income has dropped from €714.9 million last year to €640.7 million this time.

1. Manchester City

The reigning champions of England have enjoyed a 17% rise in annual revenue, with an increase from €549.2 million to €644.9 million. They are among the favourites to win the Champions League this year and have established themselves as a top force in football.
