PSG lose 3rd consecutive away games as problems come to the forefront

Monaco defeated PSG 3-0 to pick up three very important points en route to making it back to European spots. Two goals from Wissam Ben Tedder and one from Kevin Volland were enough to get a dominant win for the home team.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have lost their third consecutive away game in Ligue 1, with Nice and Nantes getting the better of the Parisians in the previous games.

Monaco themselves have been in a difficult situation in recent weeks. Their ultras were absent from the stands today, following the tumultuous situation at the back end of the club.

The massive win against PSG could be the final game of Philippe Clement’s brief spell at Monaco, following an impending clear-out at the club. But despite things being very uncertain for the Principality club, they were able to get the key result on the pitch.

Ben Yedder opened the scoring with a front-post flick, and would double up with a penalty later in the game.

PSG’s issues with pressure have been well documented this season, with them being unable to deliver under difficult circumstances. They were outscored by Real Madrid a week ago in the Champions League, and have now succumbed to Monaco in Ligue 1 shortly after as well.

A mentality shift is needed for the Parisians if they hope to become one of the top clubs in Europe. However, Ligue 1 title is seemingly guaranteed to PSG this season, with a 15-point lead at the top of the table. And with them out of European competition, there is practically little else to play for.
