India vs Sri Lanka, 2nd Test Day 2: SL 28/1 at stumps, need 447 runs to win

India restricted their opposition Sri Lanka to 28/1 by Stumps . Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant hit half centuries on Sunday, on the other hand, Bumrah shined with his bowling attack.

In the very first session Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin dismissed two players in the first half hour and helped India bowl Sri Lanka out for 109 runs and have a lead of 143 runs. Bumrah shined in the match by bagging five wickets in the Tests in his home ground. The hosts just needed 5.5 overs to end the game. Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal had an advantage and took India past 180 runs easily. Agarwal got dismissed by Embuldeniya on just 22 runs. After which Indian skipper lost his wicket to Hanuma Vihari. Rohit took the hosts to 61/2 on Day and India by then was leading by 203 runs. The two batters had a 56 run stand before Rohit Sharma got dismissed on 46 to Dhananjaya de Silva. Rishabh Pant had a steady performance but Virat Kohli got out mustering just 13 runs. Pant created a record of fastest 50 in Test by an Indian in just 28 balls. He was dismissed by Jayawickrama. Jadeja scored 10 and Shreyas Iyer scored 18 unbeaten and by the dinner break, India was at 199/5. The two had partnered to muster 50 runs. Ferando picket Jadeja’s wicket on 22 runs. Iyer scored 67 runs and Ashwin scored 13. Axar Patel was the last player to score 9 runs before Indian skipper Rohit Sharma declared India’s innings. Bumrah dismissed Thirimanne on 0 after which Mendis and Karunaratne played the rest overs of the day.
