Top 5 lowest totals defended successfully in IPL history

T20 cricket is a format that always gives a lot of scopes to score high runs and gives an opportunity to smash a lot of fours and sixes. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), fans love the idea of seeing numbers increase in their favourite team’s scorecard. Batters have developed strategies to increase their runs threatening the bowlers. There have been some IPL matches in which a team defended the opposition in small totals.

Let’s have a look at the five lowest totals that were defended in IPL history.

1. CSK vs KXIP, 2009

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defended the lowest score in the history of the IPL. They scored 116/9 in 20 overs. The opposition. Kings XI Punjab was under pressure from the start. They mustered 92/8 in 20 overs. CSK had beaten them by 24 runs.

2. MI vs SRH, 2018

The game had a quite shocking end as one of the strongest teams, Mumbai Indians mustered just 87 runs while chasing 119 runs. For SRH, Yusuf Pathan scored the maximum runs of 29 runs in the first innings. The bowlers Siddharth Kaul, Rashid Khan and Basil Thampy with their terrific skills helped the team win the game.

3. 119 by KXIP vs MI, 2009

The Punjab team won against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2009. Kings XI Punjab scored a total of 119/8 wickets in 20 overs, Sangakara scoring 45 runs in 44 balls. Mumbai Indians in response scored only 116 runs in 7 wickets and lost the match by 3 runs.

4. 119 by SRH vs PWI, 2013

Pune Warriors had to chase 120 runs but were disappointed with their batting. SRH scored 119/8 from Biplab Samantray and Ashish Reddy and Bhuveneshwar Kumar picked 3 wickets. Pune Warriors was dismissed for 108 runs and lost the match by 11 runs. Amit Mishra picked 4 wickets giving out 19 runs.

5. MI vs PWI, 2012

The Mumbai Indians scored only 120 /9 in the first innings. Sachin was the top scorer from MI scoring 34 runs in 35 balls. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ashish Nehra picked up 2 wickets each. Pune kept losing wickets at regular intervals and on the 19th over, they lost their sixth wicket at a score of 105 runs. In the end, Mumbai won the thrilling match just by 1 run.
