Top 5 teams with most La Liga titles of all-time

The Spanish La Liga is one of the most entertaining among the Big Five in Europe. Real Madrid and Barcelona have maintained a firm grip on the league title, but there have been surprise winners every now and then too. In this article, we take a look at the top five teams with the most La Liga title wins of all-time.

Most La Liga title wins of all-time

5. Valencia CF (6 titles)

Interestingly, Valencia have won the league title the same number of times that they have finished second. Los Che won the title for the first time in 1941/42, and had their most recent La Liga win in 2003/04. That year, they also won the Europa League.

4. Athletic Club (8 titles)

While Athletic Club have not been able to secure any European titles, their record in Spain is remarkable. They have finished first in the table eight times, and have won the Copa del Rey an eye-catching 24 times.

3. Atletico Madrid (11 titles)

The Rojiblancos are the reigning champions of Spain, and clinched their 11th title last season, on the final day. While they haven’t ever won the Champions League, they have won the Europa League and Super Cup thrice.

2. FC Barcelona (26 titles)

With a margin of 15 league titles, Barcelona take second spot. The Blaugrana won the title for the last time in the 2018/19 season. They aren’t as strong as they were a few years ago, but they have a number of key young players that can propel them into the future.

1. Real Madrid (34 titles)

Los Blancos are at the top of the list with 34 La Liga titles to their name. Their most recent win came under Zinedine Zidane in the 2019/20 season. And in a few months, it could be their 35th under Carlo Ancelotti, since they are leading the race this season.
