Top 5 most successful English clubs of all-time

English clubs are among the most successful in the world, consistently competing in the biggest league in the world. Liverpool recently lifted their ninth League Cup title by defeating Chelsea in the finals. So, let’s take a look at the most successful English clubs.

Top 5 most successful English clubs

5. Manchester City – 28 titles

Since the change in ownership, Manchester City have been transformed into one of the biggest clubs in the world. They have won the Premier League title five teams in the previous decade, and maintain a stronghold in domestic competitions. However, Champions League glory continues to elude them.

4. Chelsea – 34 titles

Chelsea was one of the first English clubs to be completely transformed by the takeover in 2003. And now, the Roman Abramovich era is coming to an end with the Blues up for sale. Under the Russian, the London club has been transformed into a force to be reckoned with, with their most recent trophy being the Club World Cup.

3. Arsenal – 48 titles

Arsenal’s glory has been spread over the years. They have won the FA Cup a record high 14 times, and have also enjoyed success in the domestic league. But, they have not been able to win a European trophy yet.

2. Manchester United – 66 titles

The Red Devils enjoyed a brilliant spell under Sir Alex Ferguson, where they were the undisputed number one English club for years. But their status has since been dropped, and has been up for debate between two of their biggest rivals. Of Manchester United’s 20 total Premier League titles, 13 came under Sir Alex Ferguson alongside two Champions League wins.

1. Liverpool – 66 titles

With their EFL Cup win against Chelsea, Liverpool matched their rivals Manchester United for the most titles in history. As a result, they are the joint-most successful English club. The Reds have won the Champions League six times, the most of any English club. While their fortune in the Premier League hasn’t been as rewarding, they are still one of the biggest clubs in the land.
