AMD begins its Aggressive Partner Programme to increase the sales of its Systems

AMD has launched a new partner programme to increase AMD-based system sales to business and commercial clients through value-added resellers. AMD is claimed to be supporting the programme with substantial volume incentive rebates and training, sales, and marketing.

According to CRN, AMD’s new invite-only partner programme began on January 1 and covered AMD Ryzen-based PCs and EPYC-powered servers from OEMs such as Dell, HPE, and Lenovo. Companies that sell more AMD-powered machines receive per-CPU incentives from the firm. Those who sell more PCs with higher-end AMD CPUs will receive a larger payment from AMD. Furthermore, AMD provides training to value-added resellers (VARs) to help them better articulate the benefits of AMD’s Ryzen and EPYC platforms over competitive Intel systems.

VARs and solution providers can utilise the refund money to improve client pricing, investment in company expansion, train employees, or hire more people. In any case, the funds will aid AMD’s partners in expanding their businesses, which will benefit the processor maker. This is not the same as what Intel was accused of doing in the past when exclusive agreements to utilise Intel chips were required.

AMD does not say how much money it will give back to its VARs, but solution providers contacted by CRN said AMD’s incentive scheme is quite aggressive. Terry Richardson, an HPE veteran who joined AMD last year as the company’s North American channel chief, created the programme.

“When we presented the program and the 2022 proposed rebates for client and server, the feedback from the members of the advisory board was those are very, very competitive and very attractive,” said Richardson in an interview with CRN. “If they choose to understand and take the time not only to understand the AMD differentiation but start to position it aggressively, then there’s a reward.”

AMD has a long history of producing CPUs for do-it-yourself (DIY) enthusiasts and client PCs, which is why Ryzen processors are among the finest CPUs for gaming. However, because AMD is now selling every piece of silicon it can build, it makes sense for the company to concentrate on the sale and commercial systems that use premium CPUs, maximising AMD’s earnings and profitability.
