Marcelo Bielsa sacked by Leeds United after 4-0 loss to Spurs; Jesse Marsch to replace him

Leeds United have parted ways with manager Marcelo Bielsa after a poor run of form for the team. The Argentinian most recently fell victim to Antonio Conte’s Spurs, who won 4-0 at Elland Road

Prior to that, they succumbed to Manchester United and Liverpool with the latter being a 6-0 defeat. As a result, the board decided that some big changes needed to be put into place and that the manager would have to make way after all this time.

Leeds looking at Jesse Marsch to replace Marcelo Bielsa

Former RB Leipzig head coach, Jesse Marsch is the frontrunner to be the replacement for Marcelo Bielsa following his dismissal. Leeds currently have the leakiest defense in the Premier League after bottom placed Norwich, and need to find a way to make things work.

Otherwise, they run the risk of falling back into the Championship.

Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani said the following about his decision to remove the coach:

“This has been the toughest decision I have had to make during my tenure at Leeds United, taking into account all the success Marcelo has had at the club.

“With Marcelo Bielsa as our head coach, we had three incredible campaigns and the good times returned to Elland Road. He changed the culture of the club and brought a winning mentality to us all.

“The moments created, particularly in the 2019/20 season and winning promotion to the Premier League, will of course live long in all our memories, myself and the fans included.

“However, I have to act in the best interest of the club and I believe a change is required now in order to secure our Premier League status.”

Biela’s contract would’ve expired in the summer, and now, the Yorkshire club are preparing to offer him a permanent tribute at their home ground.
