Chelsea given special permission to wear Club World Cup badge in the Premier League

Chelsea will be wearing the FIFA Club World Cup champions badge on their shirt for the rest of the season in the Premier League. They have been granted special permission by the official body despite other teams only allowed to sport it once in the season.

Liverpool only had the gold badge on their kit once in the Premier League, after their win against Flamengo in extra time. On the other hand, Manchester United also had the badge on their shirt for one game in the league, after defeating Ecuadorian outfit LDU Quito in Yokohama, Japan. The Red Devils were the first English club to win the Club World Cup, and subject to this ruling.

Chelsea wore the badge for the first time in the Champions League in their game against Lille. The Blues won the first leg of their Round of 16 clash 2-0, and have one foot in the quarter finals.

The decision to allow the London club to have the badge on their kit in the Premier League will attract criticism from fans of both Liverpool and Manchester United. But, as was the case with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, in Spain and Germany, it will now be present in the domestic league as well.
