AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT achieves new 3DMark World Record by single-handedly beating 4 GTX 1080 Ti GPUs

The introduction of Intel’s Alder Lake processors and associated new motherboards appears to have sparked a major surge in new benchmark world records. Of course, many of the milestones were achieved through CPU-based testing, but numerous key 3DMark graphics benchmark world records have also been broken in recent days.

Overclocker Biso Biso, using an AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT, set both the Fire Strike and Fire Strike Extreme world records. Meanwhile, using an Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti, overclocker Rauf set the 3DMark2001 SE world record.

On Thursday, Korean OC expert Biso Biso scored a 3DMark Fire Strike score of 62,389 in the 3DMark Fire Strike test. This album is noteworthy for several reasons. It was first accomplished on an AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT clocked at 3,147 MHz. Second, it dethroned Kingpin’s (61,206) Quad-SLI Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti-powered record, which had stood for nearly two years.

Biso set a new world record pole position on Sunday, this time in Fire Strike Extreme 1x GPU, which was verified by HWBot. The Korean overclocker used liquid nitrogen (LN2) cooling on both the Intel Core i9 12900K and XFX Radeon RX 6900 XT used in the benchmarks, according to the specifications of the achievement.

The new Fire Strike Extreme record of 39,515 isn’t a huge improvement over the previous record, and the top 10 all appear to be using the same GPU, thus this test appears to be a sweet spot for AMD’s top-end consumer GPU.

Yes, people are still vying for the greatest score in 3DMark2001 SE, which was released in, you guessed it, 2002. With such outdated software, it’s not unexpected that only older GPU architectures, running on older OSes, can effectively complete the benchmark. Overclocker Rauf set a new world record on Sunday, with a score of 253,975 points, as verified by HWBot.

Rauf set the world record utilizing an Intel Core i9 12900K with eight active P-cores on an Asus ROG Maximus Z690 Apex motherboard with DDR5 RAM. His achievement was powered by an Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti Matrix Platinum Edition GPU.

The CPU, which was cooled with LN2 and ran at 7,125 MHz, was air-cooled, but the GPU was not. The GPU is covered in a paper towel in the shot to prevent condensation from the CPU pot from affecting or ruining it.

We’ve lately covered several additional noteworthy benchmarks and overclocking world records. Certain new Intel Alder Lake motherboards contain a function that allows users to unlock BCLK, which has resulted in a slew of new records being set using chips that aren’t generally overclocked, such as value-oriented Core i5, i3, Pentium, and even Celeron CPUs.
