UPDATE on Mason Greenwood: Manchester United suspend the 20-year-old after Harriet Robson claimed he abused her

Manchester United player Mason Greenwood has been accused of abusing his girlfriend Harriet Robson. She posted images showing her bruised body and injuries, which she claimed was caused by Greenwood. She also posted a voice note where Greenwood forces her to have s*x.

The photos and voice note have shaken the social media and everyone is talking against the Manchester United player and asking for his punishment.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police said, via Daily Mail: “Greater Manchester Police is aware of images and video circulating on social media. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

In an earlier statement issued on Sunday morning, Manchester United said: “We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media.”

“We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”

Manchester United suspend Mason Greenwood after alleged assaults on his girlfriend Harriet Robson

Manchester United have now issued another statement, which read: “Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice.”

The England international has now been suspended by Manchester United and would be subject to investigation.

Mason Greenwood has been in trouble in September 2020 as well. Greenwood was on international duty for England but was sent home in disgrace after he and Phil Foden broke Covid protocols by inviting two women back to the hotel in Iceland. However, both issued public apologies and Greenwood promised to learn from his ‘huge mistake.’

But this recent news of him abusing his girlfriend has angered everyone and many have raised voices against him asking for the punishment he deserves.

Charity Women’s Aid said: “Distressing posts being circulated on social media today #MasonGreenwood.”

“It is essential that all employers, including those in football, take domestic abuse very seriously and we hope Man Utd do in this case.”

The statement added: “Solidarity with Harriet Robson. #FootballUnitedAgainstDomesticViolence.”

British sprinter Gemili said on Twitter: “It’s happening everyday to thousands of men and women. We all need to raise awareness to help combat domestic violence.”

Tory MP Ms Nokes said: “Investigation into allegations about Mason Greenwood is for @gmpolice not @ManUtd – and Harriet Robson needs support for her bravery in speaking out.”

Jess Phillips MP said: “I had never heard of Mason Greenwood before. I hope he faces the full force of the law, unlike so many people accused.”

She added: “Until the case is settled it would be unfathomable that he be allowed to play.”

Former footballer David Meyler wrote: “Shocked and disturbed seeing the Greenwood news. I really hope she’s okay and getting the support she needs. It takes incredible bravery to do what she’s done and come forward.”

A Nike spokesman said: “We are deeply concerned by the disturbing allegations and will continue to closely monitor the situation.”
