Jio phone 5G will launch this year in November

Jio is India’s go-to cellular network in a short period. It partnered with Google last year to develop its own phone with an amazing price of just 6,499 INR, the JioPhone Next.

Jio is now turning its attention towards developing a 5G device. India has not yet begun offering 5G connectivity although it is expected to roll out towards the end of 2022 to major cities.

Jio is eyeing this as their ideal timeline to launch the successor to the JioPhone Next and in all likelihood the most affordable 5G smartphone. A report has emerged courtesy of AndroidCentral which lays out the detailed specs of the JioPhone 5G.

The JioPhone 5G’s highlight feature will be its compatibility to 5G connectivity, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G chip, an upgrade over the Snapdragon 215 that is featured in the current model.

The JioPhone 5G will have a 6.5″ HD+ display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. It has 4GB RAM along with 32GB storage with a microSD card slot as well. The device supports N3, N5, N28, N40, and N78 5G bands. It will also carry a significant upgrade in the battery with a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W charging, and a sim card slot that houses two sim slots along with the microSD card.

Coming to the optics, you get a 13MP rear shooter and an 8MP selfie shooter. Unfortunately, there are no renders of the JioPhone 5G as of now. It could still be in the works but we may get to see a more modern design with thin bezels at the top and bottom, a punch-hole cutout, and rounded edges.

The JioPhone 5G will most likely run on Android 11 OS (Go Edition) with custom tweaks for Jio devices, including an always-on Google Assistant, read-aloud text, instant translation via Google Lens, and Google Translate, and integration with various Indic languages.

In addition to this, you will get the entire Jio app portfolio, from MyJio to JioSaavn, the whole package. The device is expected to launch in November 2022, the device has not even entered the prototype phase yet, so it will definitely take some time.

Since Jio’s goal has always been to keep its devices affordable, the JioPhone 5G will also be priced at around 9,000 to 12,000 INR range, which is amazing for a 5G phone. For now, we cannot really tell anything more, we will keep you updated as and when we come across the renders of the JioPhone 5G.
