The iPhone 14 could lack a 120Hz LTPO display panel

There have been multiple reports and rumors about the display panel that Apple is planning to use for the upcoming iPhone 14 Series models, though the launch of the device is a long way away, new details keep surfacing online.

While the iPhone 14 Pro models are said to come with an LTPO display panel with a 120hz refresh rate, a new report claims that the regular iPhone 14 as well as the iPhone 14 Max, may not feature an LTPO screen after all.

A report from Ross Young claims that the non-Pro models in the iPhone 14 Series will receive display panels from China-based BOE and it also mentions that currently the company is not capable of supplying OLED panels along with a dynamic refresh rate.

Recently, some reports indicated that all the models in the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup could arrive with a 120Hz display. Apple, however, is not in a hurry to upgrade the display panel for all the modes, at least not this year.

It is a unique choice from Apple considering that most of the Android smartphones even in the mid-range segment, now comes with a 90Hz or 120Hz display. However, it seems that Apple will be offering its ProMotion display only for the Pro models.

The Apple iPhone 14 and 14 Max are more likely to come with low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) panel.

On the other hand, the Pro models are more likely to get the LTPO tech that allows a display to adjust the refresh rate based on the content being displayed on the screen.
