Watford have signed Brazilian defender Samir from Udinese, which is owned by the Pozzo family. The medical has already been passed, and the official announcement has also been made by the club.

He is Watford’s second signing of the January transfer window, and is expected to be a big part of the squad in the latter half of the season.

Samir joins Watford from Udinese

The player has signed a contract until June 2025, and moves on from the Serie A club after spending five and a half years with them. He has made almost 150 appearances for Udinese in the league, and will bring a wealth of experience to the Premier League outfit.

The transfer fee for Samir has not yet been revealed, but Watford have announced that he will be wearing the number 22 shirt. He has represented Brazil at the youth level, and was called up to the national team in 2019 as well.

Being an imposing presence at the back, he has the physicality to help improve the Hornets’ defense. They are currently in the relegation battle, but are right above the bottom three, with 13 points from 18 games so far.

Watford have also signed Hassane Kamara from Nice until 2025. He is a versatile left midfielder who can play in the heart of the park, as well as defense. With their January arrivals, the Hornets will be confident about staying up in the Premier League under Claudio Ranieri.
