Kieran Trippier has arrived in Newcastle United ahead of his medical transfer and is all set to complete his return to the Premier League. The Atletico Madrid right-back will be the first new signing for the club after their Saudi Arabia takeover.

The England international always favoured a move back to his home country and was approached by Manchester United in the summer. But after submitting an official bid on new year’s day, the Magpies have reached an agreement with Atleti for their player.

Newcastle will pay the La Liga champions £12 million plus add-ons for the defender, who is set to sign a 2.5 year contract. The deal will run until the summer of 2024.

Newcastle United are waiting to announce the signing of the former Tottenham Hotspur player. Kieran Trippier has been their primary target since December, and they now have their man after completing the negotiations with Madrid.

Lucas Digne was one of the other players rumoured to join Newcastle this window. But despite falling out with Rafa Benitez at Everton, his next club won’t be Newcastle United. The final word on Digne’s situation is yet to be reached, with a number of clubs interested in him.
