Romelu Lukaku might make a surprise move to Tottenham, according to a stunning new report in Italy, which claims the striker wants to rejoin with former Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte.

About the Reunion

After shocking the club with a bombshell interview in which he acknowledged his frustrations at Stamford Bridge, Lukaku, 28, was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s matchday squad for Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

The Belgian only joined the Blues last summer, but his recent statements have led to speculation over his future. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku may try to force a reunion with former Inter boss Conte, who has taken over at Tottenham following his departure from the club.

The 28-year-old joined the Blues for £97.5 million, and it’s unclear whether they’ll be able to repay that huge sum. Lukaku has seven goals in 18 appearances this season.

Tuchel and Conte

Tuchel stated that he will meet with Lukaku today to discuss last week’s events, adding that ‘there is always a path back,’ in an attempt to dispel rumors of a speedy leave. He also hinted that he wants to return to Inter Milan shortly, telling former teammate Lautaro Martinez not to join Chelsea since he’d be back at the San Siro soon.

Meanwhile, Conte has urged the Tottenham hierarchy to support him in the transfer market as he seeks to rebuild his squad and contend for the Premier League title. The Italian claims that after only 10 days, he knew where his team needed to improve and that he has assessed which players will be part of his plans.
