2022 World Cup Louis Vuitton ad: How much did Messi and Ronaldo earn?

In the build-up to the 2022 World Cup, Louis Vuitton released one of the most eye-catching ads in football. Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi posed over a chessboard, signalling arguably the last great duel between the two as they competed for the biggest prize in football.

Messi ultimately came away with the win, as he led Argentina to the World Cup, completing his trophy haul in the process. Ronaldo, on the other hand, was eliminated at the quarter finals when Portugal lost to Morocco.

Contrary to popular belief, the two did not pose together for the photo. It had to be stitched together, with each of them posing alone.

Cristiano Ronaldo earned €2.34 million for each post, while Lionel Messi earned €1.75 million for each post. The two icons also uploaded the picture onto their personal accounts, with Ronaldo getting 42 million likes on Instagram while Messi got 32 million likes.

Lionel Messi confirmed that it would be his last ever World Cup, and considering that Cristiano Ronaldo is 38 right now, it might be his last as well. But with the fitness and the performances that he is showing, even with Al-Nassr, you just wouldn’t count the Portugal captain out for the 2026 edition just yet.
