The 2022/23 Champions League semi finals have been confirmed, with a Milan derby set for a place in the last four. On the other side of the bracket, Real Madrid will face Manchester City who are looking to make it to the finals for only the second time in their history.
Napoli were one of the favourites to make it to the last four, but they were defeated over two legs by Milan, who have advanced to the semi-finals for the first time since 2007, when they won the tournament. The same can be said for Inter, who won the tournament in 2010 when they made it to the semi-finals.
2022/23 Champions League semi finals confirmed
While Manchester City vs Real Madrid is no doubt a very entertaining fixture, a Derby della Madonnina in the Champions League semi final, the first since 2005, is a fixture of historic measure.
Both teams have fallen off the European radar over the last decade, and this year, both have made it to the last four of the tournament. One Milan team will be making it to the finals, and it remains to be seen who makes it to Istanbul from San Siro.
On the other hand, 14-time Champions League winners Real Madrid could eliminate Manchester City once again en route to the final. But, this time around, City have a beast like Erling Haaland in attack. The striker has been in unstoppable form, but Madrid are the true kings of Europe and have proven it time and time again.
Whichever team makes it to the final from this side will be considered the favourite to go on and win the Champions League, regardless of whichever Milan side is facing them.
